"That's Fort Putnam that you can see above the stadium," he says as he points to the stone wall atop the hill overlooking the playing field and the Hudson River valley below. He is starting way back when to get us to the right here moment as he sits in his office overlooking the field at Michie Stadium, the nearly 100-year-old home of the Black Knights. Most importantly, he has led the Black Knights to four wins in six years over Navy.īut now, Monken is in full-on professor mode. He has led this program for nine seasons, earning five bowl berths, and in 2018 guiding the team to its first appearance in the AP Top 25's final rankings in 22 years.
